Their goal was decided by Rudolf FrieAY, Walter Zangenberg, and Carl-Erich Grul, German cnyologists and hunters dedicated to producing such a breed. They used black and tan hunting dogs to create their desired breed; that is when the zoo director Lutz Heck introduced four black and tan breeds to the group. As expected, these dogs presented by Lutz Heck became the ancestors of the Jagdterrier.

The group’s hard work paid off, and they succeeded in creating the breed they wanted; however, some features do not meet their expectations. They continued to develop the breed, now with the help of Dr. Herbert Lackner, who was also dedicated to bringing the breed to life. They work on improving the breed’s appearance and finesse. They crossed the breed to the Old English Wirehaired Terrier and with the Welsh Terrier; this action led to a better-looking and more skillful Jagdterrier. This breed became the elegant and powerful dog present in our world today, showcasing its expertise on the field with its hunting skills.
