Is Any CBD Treatment Good for Dogs?

In recent years, an increasing number of pet parents for dogs have been turning away from man-made pharmaceuticals, in favor of the more natural alternative, known as cannabidiol oil, or CBD oil, which is made from the hemp plant.

CBD Does Seem to Work for Humans

A number of studies have shown that CBD products, including CDB oil, tend to be very successful at relieving a number of health conditions for humans, including  pain, anxiety, neurological problems, and seizures. However, just because it’s good for humans doesn’t mean it’s safe and effective for your fur-legged best friend.

Therefore, that’s the question of the age. Are most CBD oils and other products as safe and effective for dogs as they are for their favorite people?

Which CBD Products Have Been Most Successful in Treating Dogs?

Many CBD products on the market made specifically for dogs have been very successful at treating them. Many of these products were formulated by and supported by veterinarians and veterinary assistants, and most contain a number of quality ingredients and virtually all CBD products are tested, time and again, to endure their quality and efficacy.

Many of the manufacturers of CBD products for pets also make a version for humans, while others specialize solely in pet CBD. For example, many, if not most of the products reviewed for the overall marketplace have marketed special veterinarian-formulated products.

In addition, all of the best dog CXBD products have been fully tested by a certified  ISO 17025 lab, and provide a certificate of analysis, as a way to ensure your confidence in the product. This is important because it demonstrates their intention to provide customers with the best and safest products for their pet.

Another common feature of the best dog CBD products are certifications that only organic and non-GMO hemp was used to extract the CBD used in the oil, and that all hemp used was free of solvents and pesticides and was made in the USA

The best products also usually certify whether their CBD products are safe for both dogs and cats and that all CO2 has been extracted during the process.

What is CBD Oil, By the Way?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is an oil that has been extracted from the flowers and buds of cannabis plants, which means it can come from marijuana or hemp plants. Despite its origins, however, CBD has no tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), so it doesn’t produce the “high” that many might expect.

To be clear, even though both marijuana and hemp come from the cannabis plant, they have completely different properties. Whereas marijuana can contain as much as 30 percent THC, hemp (and CBD oil) contain no more than .03 percent THC.

Is CBD Oil Potentially Harmful for Dogs?

In fact, because THC can be very dangerous for dogs, CBD for dogs is legally limited to 0.3 percent THC, maximum. That is why marijuana is illegal by federal law, while CBD oil is completely legal under federal law and in all 50 states. That is one reason why CBD use is growing exponentially for human use all over the country.

It also suggests that, if CBD use on dogs is proven both effective and safe, its growth will  continue to grow and become a stable arsenal in every veterinary practice. Many vets are already recommending CBD oil in their practice.

Studies involving the medicinal use of CBD oil in humans has shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, and can help relieve anxiety, depression, aggressive behaviors, in addition to stopping pain, muscle spasms, and a number of neurological conditions.

If studies show it to be safe, expect CBD oil to be a major veterinary treatment for many canine health conditions. It apparently works so well in humans, why not use it to treat our best friends.
